Vanessa Blake comes from an equestrian family long involved with Thoroughbreds. Vanessa’s mother, Tracy Herides Blake, is a breeder. Tracy has won many USDF riding awards, and was featured many years ago on the cover of the USDF magazine. She also was IBHA World Champion. Vanessa’s grandmother, Lynne Schramer Miller, purchased All She Wrote as a four year old off the track with a broken sesamoid. Under Lynne’s care, All She Wrote become an extremely successful stallion for the Quarter Horse industry as well as for hunters and jumpers. Vanessa as a Junior Young Rider has been competing Logan Motion, a green “unmade” horse, since 2009. In 2009 and 2010 they won regional Grand Championships in Dressage Training Level. The first year either of them showed USDF, 2011, together they won: All-Breeds National Champion in Training Jr/YR and Reserve Champion in Training Open, USDF Rider Award for Training Level, and USDF Horse Performance Award for Training Level.

The family hosted many dressage clinicians over the years, including Alex Konyot and Col. Von Ziegner. Vanessa and Logan train with Kim Deaton Iwen, the resident trainer at Wisconsin Equestrian Center in Depere, WI.
